Internet connectivity
VESK guarantee the service level and internet connection from the datacentre so you can always access VESK from any computer connected to the Internet.
Unfortunately we can't guarantee your Internet connection if it isn't managed by us. Most broadband connections, SDSL lines and nearly all leased lines are reliable enough to run virtual hosted desktops. In some cases where users experience intermittent connections and temperamental lines we highly recommend upgrading your Internet connection.
In addition, ADSL/broadband does not come with an SLA (uptime guarantee) so in most cases we recommend upgrading your line to ensure that you can always access your data.
VESK can install and manage the Internet connection for you. Here is the list of upgrade options in order of reliability:
Bonded ADSL
Implement a second ADSL/broadband connection. VESK will install a dual WAN router to accept two separate ADSL connections from two separate providers. Should one line fail the other will take over. This option is twice as reliable as a single broadband line but does not come with an SLA.
SDSL
Synchronous DSL is a step up from ADSL and will give you a faster upload speed compared to ADSL, lower contention ratios (shared between fewer businesses) and comes with a SLA on the Internet connection only.
Leased line
VESK work closely with Telewest and BT wholesale to offer extremely competitive leased lines. A leased line is a dedicated line directly into your building typically with a high/100% SLA. Leased lines are the most reliable type of line but also the most costly.
Point-to-point
***New***
VESK can now supply a point-to-point line directly from our datacentre into your office. Essentially this is no different from running a network cable from your office to our datacentre. Typical speeds are 10mbps and 100mbps, the later can support 1,000 concurrent VESK connections. This is a form of leased line and therefore is highly reliable with a high/100% SLA. Point-to-point lines are less expensive than leased lines because they do not actually connect to the Internet. Instead they connect directly to the VESK datacentre where you can share our unlimited Internet connection.
Please call VESK for quotes on the above lines. We require a minimum of 14 days notice to arrange an installation date.
It's important to remember that even if your Internet connection goes down, VESK is still up and running, still accepting your emails and still accessible by you and your staff from a different location. Therefore even if you lose Internet connectivity, VESK is still a more reliable solution if you depend on your emails and shared data.
