Meet the Management Team
James Mackie – Managing Director
James is a thought leader in Cloud Computing, giving talks all over the world at events such as the Open Storage Summit in California, Datacentre World in London and the Cloud Storage Summit in Amsterdam.
James was appointed as Chairman of the European Citrix XenServer User group for 2 years running, appointed by Citrix.
Starting with a modest £14,000 investment, James has since raised and invested over £4m pounds into the VESK infrastructure, helping VESK become a leading provider in hosted VDI.

James left school at the age of 16 to start his career at the Ford Motor Company. As an apprentice, James completed 5 years of training in computing and advanced robotics becoming a fully qualified robotics engineer programming robots on the Ford production line.
After 5 years at Fords, James setup Appiam in 2003, an IT support company offering web development and local support & maintenance for physical desktops, servers and networks. James grew Appiam to a multi-million pound business within 5 years. Appiam’s client base included BT; building their internal telecoms solution matrix used by over 3,000 call centre staff in India, Nokia; building their mobile hosted email platform supported on 12m devices, and advising the UK Government on new Internet technologies. Appiam still operates, although most of its customers have been migrated to the VESK Cloud.

Adam Gurney – Technical Director
Adam joined Appiam in 2006, after gaining a Computer Science Bsc from University of Northampton, as a member of the Technical Support team. Adam quickly rose up the ranks at Appiam to become the Companies IT Manager in 2009.
Adam was then tasked with heading up the Technical team for VESK in 2010, leaving Appiam to become VESK’s Technical Director.
Adam has been instrumental in the expansion of VESK, including the on-boarding of thousands of new users to the platform, growth of the Engineering team and ensuring VESK provide unrivalled levels of service.
Adam oversees VESK’s 3rd Line consisting of 10 Senior 3rd Line Engineers. Adam also oversees all major infrastructure changes to the VESK Cloud and helps plan VESK’s infrastructure roadmap for future iterations of the platform.
Adam is now a shareholder and the Technical Director at VESK.

Eileen Silvester – Head of Accounts
Eileen has been with VESK since the company’s incorporation, managing VESK’s internal accounts team.
Before her time at VESK, Eileen also managed the accounts for Appiam. Prior to Appiam, Eileen gained 31 years experience of managing company accounts for one of the UK’s leading bookmakers who have since been acquired by William Hill.
Richard De Napoli – Infrastructure Manager
Richard joined VESK in 2011 as Senior Storage Architect bringing to the company a wealth of knowledge and experience in storage networks. Richard has many accreditations to his name and was brought in to specifically manage the storage element of the platform.
In 2012 Richard was assigned to manage the storage and server infrastructure with his main area of expertise covering the storage and virtualisation layers of the platform.
Richard oversees VESK’s storage and server infrastructure and is constantly implementing new features for monitoring and performance enhancement. Richard has been instrumental in growing the platform, now boasting multiple storage clusters serving Petabytes of high end data to real-time virtual servers, hosted on fault tolerant hypervisors.
