Google have shocked the internet world this week by releasing a mobile application designed specifically for the iPad.
There were rumours of a rift between the internet search engine and Apple but this revelation appears to have nipped those rumours in the bud. The application allows users to do pretty much everything they can do on a normal desktop but with added functionality.
The application also lets users perform their tasks by giving voice commands in Mandarin, English, Spanish and French, which will be useful to mobile workers who travel abroad a lot. The app also automatically tracks your location and will also offer alternative features such as searching through your contacts.
The app is available as a free download from the Google store but has come under criticism for not being fancy enough. Critics have given increasingly negative feedback since the app was released yesterday and have even go so far as to say it is simply a scaled up version of the iPhone model.
Many expected Google to launch a brand spanking new model to pave their way for their rumoured tablet but this was not the case. Some experts believe Google held back because, if they hadn't, Apple wouldn't have allowed them to release an app at all.
Apple are rumoured to be very picky about which apps are available for the iPad and it's believed they put restrictions on the app to keep their rivals in place.
Since the iPad's release in America a few weeks ago scores of the model have flown off the shelves. It's believed mobile workers and young people are the main target audience of Apple's first tablet which is expected to sell around 9 million units in the first year alone.
