We know we've said it time and time again, but 2010 is definitely the year of the virtual desktop.
Despite almost a third of SME's looking into VDI's it seems many are eager to hold onto their cash for a bit longer before they make that commitment. The question is why? Why wait to save money?
There are a number of reasons to install virtual desktops:
- Improve client system manageability
- Improve security
- Cut upgrade, support and maintenance costs
- Eradicate application conflicts
- Improve business continuity
In a country stepping out from the recession, the key is to make key investments now while money is still tight. Making key savings now could improve your business ten fold in the long run.
In reality, many IT budgets remain tight, following extensive slashing during the economic downturn. Most of the shrinking budget is now being spent on maintenance and integration tasks rather than innovation. Undoubtedly, spending money on maintenance and integration now might save you money in the short term but surely it's time to look to the bigger picture?
Now is the right time to invest in innovation. With the right planning and well thought out business model, investing in virtual desktops now could be the perfect move to get your business ahead in 2010.
